PROJECT ASSOCIATE – Structural Biology

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in discipline of life sciences OR B. Tech with 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in gene cloning, recombinant protein expression, purification and biophysical/biochemical characterization.
  • Qualification of GATE or equivalent is preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Perform cloning, protein expression and purification studies
  • Support and enable large-scale protein purifications in quality and quantity suitable for X-ray crystallography
  • Produce and purify isotope labeled protein for NMR
  • Crystallization of protein-ligand complexes.
  • Regular data analysis, project updates, literature survey and presentations on the target(s)
  • Participate in project team meeting and contribute to the projects intellectually.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary team and maintenance of good laboratory practices in work environment

DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of the results and of written reports.
  • Expedite the completion of projects and ensure that appropriate turn-around goals are met. Perform troubleshooting of problems with procedures, methods and protocols in all aspects of molecular and structural biology.
  • Give presentation to the collaborators and group members.
  • Support protein design, expression and purification for small-molecule discovery.
  • Computer skills with experience in data management, data analysis and statistical analysis.
  • Must be detail oriented, well organized, and have strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with up-to-date laboratory safety protocols and employs them in the course of all work.
  • Help with the organization and maintenance of the laboratory and its equipment.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi - disciplinary environment.
