We are setting up a composite program to build biosensors for imaging intracellular protein activation in living cells. The lab will be focused on technology development to build reporters for cell signaling as well as uncovering the basic mechanisms of signaling, especially in the context of cell adhesion and cell migration. This would be a perfect opportunity for EITHER biology graduates who have an interest in building fluorescent biosensors and imaging OR chemistry graduates who are interested in various chemical biology and protein engineering approaches for biosensing. Our approach is very interdisciplinary in nature and will employ diverse methods for probe development and solving outstanding problems in cell signaling. We are specifically interested in using high-throughput screening and high-content imaging to build suitable biosensors. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with other outstanding groups at inStem and NCBS in epithelial and adhesion biology, technology development and stem cell biology.

Desirable qualifications:
We are looking for

  1. Biology and biochemistry graduates with interest in imaging and quantitative biology; OR
  2. Chemistry graduates who have some chemical biology experience or inclinations; OR
  3. Physics or engineering graduates who have experience in fluorescence microscopy would also be welcome.

We are a new lab and are looking for people who are very motivated and want to have fun looking to find new ways of doing biology. Kindly apply with CV and full contact details of two referees to akashg@instem.res.in
